BlackJack
The idea of the game is to beat the Dealer. You achieve this by getting closer to 21 without going over 21.
Each Card has a numerical Value.
Card Values
- Aces = 1 or 11
- Number cards = their given value (2 = 2, 3 = 3, 8 = 8 etc)
- Face Cards = 10 (Jack = 10, Queen = 10 etc)
So by counting the values
-
Queen of Hearts and Ace of Spades = 11 or 21
-
10 of Clubs and King of Diamonds = 20
-
8 of Spades and 6 of Hearts = 14 and so on.
As you can see the Ace can be used as High (11) or low (1). It is your choice which way you count it.
The game starts with each player placing a bet in front of them. The dealer then gives each player two cards dealing them one at a time face down. He then deals himself two cards one face down one face up.
Each player then looks at his own hand and the Dealers Face up Card to decide his next move. Depending on, the Cards a player is holding and the card the Dealer is Showing, the Player may have Six choices.
Hit.
This means to ask for another Card. The Player can take any number of cards until they are Happy and decide to Stand or are Bust (over 21) and out of the Game.
Stand.
This means to go with the two cards you were dealt.
Split Pairs.
If you have a pair of cards with the same numerical value, you may decide to split them thus giving you two hand to play. You will have to double your initial bet and turn your cards face up. Then the Dealer will deal you one card to each of your hands then you can Hit or Stand on each hand.
Double Down.
You may Double your initial bet if you think you can beat the Dealer. Remember that you will have to take another card when you Double so don't Double if you can Bust.
Take Insurance.
When the Dealer is showing an Ace he offers the Players the chance to take insurance. If you accept you place a bet equal to half of your initial bet on the Insurance line as a side bet. This pays out 2/1 if the Dealer has a natural 21.
Surrender.
If you don't like the initial two cards that you were dealt then you may Surrender them and forfeit half your Bet.
Once all players have played their Hands and are Happy or Bust, the Dealer then plays his Hand. The Dealer can Draw extra cards to get closer to 21 but will stop at 16 or over.
-
If the Dealer is Bust then the Players win.
-
If the Player has closer to 21 than the Dealer and is not Bust then the Player Wins.
-
If the Player and Dealer both have the Same Number then neither win.
-
If the Dealer has closer to 21 then the Player and is not Bust then the Dealer Wins.
-
If the Player is bust then the Dealer wins.
